Cardamom tea

This is the "double boil" method of preparing Indian tea. It goes well with a samosa and chutney.

Ingredients

3 Whole green cardamom pods
2 Whole black cardamom pods
2 Teabags containing any variety of black tea
N/A Whole milk

Method

  1. Crush the cardamom pods using a pestle and mortar until the seeds become a fine powder.
  2. Heat up some water in a saucepan until it starts to boil, then add the powder (including the remnants of the pods). Boil for ~4 minutes.
  3. Add the teabags and continue boiling for ~2 minutes.
  4. Add milk, then bring back to a boil.
  5. Switch off the heat, remove the teabags and strain the mixture through a sieve into a teapot. Serve with sugar or sweetener.
