Cardamom tea
This is the "double boil" method of preparing Indian tea. It goes well with a samosa and chutney.
Ingredients
| Quantity | Item |
|---|---|
| 3 | Whole green cardamom pods |
| 2 | Whole black cardamom pods |
| 2 | Teabags containing any variety of black tea |
| N/A | Whole milk |
Method
- Crush the cardamom pods using a pestle and mortar until the seeds become a fine powder.
- Heat up some water in a saucepan until it starts to boil, then add the powder (including the remnants of the pods). Boil for ~4 minutes.
- Add the teabags and continue boiling for ~2 minutes.
- Add milk, then bring back to a boil.
- Switch off the heat, remove the teabags and strain the mixture through a sieve into a teapot. Serve with sugar or sweetener.
